3 Things To Do With A Corset Bustier
The corset bustier makes most people think of ######y, seductive women's lingerie - the slimming of the waist accentuating the bosom, while lace and sheer sections reveal or hint of the female beauty underneath. That is indeed the look which seems to be in favor, judging by the vast majority of corset bustiers on the market today. However bra lingeries, there is more than one way to wear one of these corset tops, which is what this article is about. But first, a bit of lingerie history.
The corset is known in one form or another all the way back to the ancient Minoan culture in the Mediterranean, but in slightly more recent times, it has been in use since the 16th century - mostly in royal courts around Europe at first. Over time, this fashion of wasp-like waists seeped from the courts to the more wealthy part of the public, and at one point of the 19th century became fashionable for both women and men alike. The corset was used for slimming, for correcting posture - sometimes for looks, other times prescribed by doctors. It was made of various natural fabrics, with horizontal stiffening rods sewn into it.
These were made of whalebone back then, which is why to this day they are still called boning. Corsets were closed in the back using laces and it often took a helping hand to even get into one. The ideal was to achieve a slimming effect allowing the user to reach a waist-size of around 36 inches. Some tried harder for this goal than others, and there are stories of women fainting due to breathing problems caused by very tight corsets. Today though, the slimming in itself is less of a goal, with shaping the torso being more important. As the name implies, a corset bustier is a combination of a corset and a bustier. The cups of the bustier varies as much as a normal bra in design, so you can get anything from completely unsupported cups, to padded cups, push-up, underwired, etc. Choosing a corset bustier, rather than a bustier and corset separately, means choosing not only the right size corset but also the right size and type of cup - all in one piece of clothing.
Getting back to how you can wear such a thing, we may as well start with the obvious. There is, in my humble opinion, no better marriage of the seductive and the romantic in women's intimate apparel. Corset bustiers have that classic ######y babydoll, burlesque look, which has only become more apparent with the resurgence of boudoir lingerie. I have no way of knowing how a queen chooses her underwear, but in my imagination, she would be quite fond of a few different corset bustiers. The possibilities are endless when lace, silk and satin come together - even if it is something rather simple like a black corset bustier. Bridal corsets and bustiers certainly also qualify for the romantic and seductive categories here.
An alternative way of wearing your ######iest specimens of this type of lingerie corset tops, is to wear it beneath something else - but leaving it partly visible. How about a black corset bustier underneath a black sheer blouse? All of sudden you can use your finest lingerie in many more settings. You can show it to the world - while actually still being presentable. Going to a party with this look is certainly not unheard of. Perhaps something colorful beneath a white semi-transparent top?
My final suggestion takes the corset bustier out of the bedroom completely and out in the open. Here you pick a model you would be comfortable wearing as it is - with nothing covering it what so ever. A white cotton corset bustier without any kind of transparency and which isn't too revealing, will be a great match for a pair of good jeans. This look really is not too different from wearing a top that shows your shoulders and a bit of your waist - except for the corset and the supportive cups. You will be wearing nothing else underneath this, so you really do need the shaping and the support. Is this a doable look? It certainly is. Celebrities like Britney Spears and others have been doing it for years - and you can too.
I hope you enjoyed this little writeup on corset bustiers.
