影片中，蓝精灵都将以３Ｄ形象亮相，并在实景拍摄的纽约中央公园展开一场别开生面的大冒险。
丹·洛布说，影片由８０％的实景和２０％的电脑特效场景构成，将有近２０个性格各异的精灵角 色登场。为使蓝精灵与真人实景的互动更为逼真，先要通过全景拍摄、激光扫描的方式，将真实场景转换成模型； 再将蓝精灵的形象置入模型中，使之产生互动；最后通过特效制作软件，完成光线、投影等后期渲染 润色工序。
他说，将平面形象转化为立体形象是一项艰巨的任务。“在２Ｄ动画中只需使用一种蓝色，但在３Ｄ电影中，哪怕 只是一点点光线的变化，蓝精灵身上的蓝色就会随之改变。”丹·洛布说

二十一点-游戏玩法一般用到1-6副牌。牌面点数的计算规则是：花牌（K、Q、J）和10都计算为10点。 A 牌既可算作1 点也可算作11 点，由玩家自行决定。其余所有2 至9的牌均按牌面的面值计算。二十一点游戏的目标是拿到21点或尽量接近21点。在最后博牌时，拥有最高点 数的玩家（或庄家）获胜，但点数必须等于或低于21点；牌面总和超过21点则输牌，称作爆牌。因此，每位玩 家的目的就是要拿到最接近21点的牌来击败庄家，但同时又不能爆牌。
需要注意的是，如果玩家（闲家）爆牌在先，则立即输牌，就算庄家随后爆牌也是如此。若玩家和庄家拥有同样点 数，这样的状态称为和局（push），玩家和庄家不论输赢，庄家退还玩家的注金。
庄家给每个参加游戏的玩家发两张牌，牌面朝上；给自己发两张牌，一张牌面朝上(叫明牌)，一张牌面朝下(叫 暗牌)。首先玩家开始要牌，如果玩家拿到的前两张牌是一张 A 和一张10点牌，就拥有黑杰克 (现在的黑杰克不一定要有黑色的J了)；此时，如果庄家没有黑杰克，玩家就能赢得2倍的注金（1赔2）。没 有黑杰克的玩家可以继续拿牌，可以随意要多少张牌，直至爆牌。在要牌的过程中，如果玩家爆牌，则立即输掉这 一局，游戏即告结束。如果玩家没爆牌，同时又决定不再要牌了（即停牌），这时庄家就把暗牌打开。庄家根据娱 乐场预设的规则拿牌，一般到17点或17点以上不再拿牌；如果不到17点，则必须继续那牌。如果庄家爆牌， 便向没有爆牌的闲家，赔出所投注金的同等注金。如果庄家最终没有爆牌的话，原来没有爆牌的众闲家则以手上所 有的牌，比较点数决定胜负，点数较大者取胜。
