Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Finance vs

I do the trick as an accountant. There has be considered a a number of mindset and temperament that's suited with the occupation, if one should be to achieve success at it. I trust I'm an excellent accountant, and in lots of respects I do show the mandatory mindset for accountantcy - detail oriented, preferring emails through telephone conversations (to ensure that there is certainly an audit trail), assessing just about every circumstance for cost / advantage, and generally being quite tranquil. Oh I do possess a reasonably odd feeling of humour, so I ' m not dry & boring (I hope), two hellspawn masquarading as cats, and an interesting collection of friends from all over the world.
What I am not is a vacuous party creature, with pretty whimsical fancies.
This coming week is my company's 50th Anniversary. It has been strongly suggested that Finance exhibit up to the party. Most of us (meaning all of us really) don't want to go. These parties usually get scheduled about the busy part of the month; it has been like this for Christmas, Summer Parties,Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, drinks events etc. I operate in an advertising agency,Microsoft Office Professional 2007, so that means there a lot of creative peeps wafting about. So they tend to focus on their needs without paying attention to others.
Why does Finance not really feel like going? Several reasons:
Finance has the highest average age of any department. A lot of of the Finance peeps have children,Microsoft Office Professional 2010, are older (40s + .. I am one particular of the youngest btw ), are have pretty staid interests.
The rest of the Agency is mostly comprised of individuals under 30. So there is certainly a generational divide to some extent.
None of us enjoys having sloshed.
We don't want to shell out the cash to get red ballgowns (1 of the requirements for this shindig),Microsoft Office Professional 2007, cos we are all cheap-ass beancounters who'd rather spend $ $ on something a lot more worthwhile.
Last December I attended the Christmas Party. I left after 30 minutes. I don't know anyone in the Agency (strange though this may possibly seem, I'm actually relatively shy) and those that I do know is cos they commonly require something of me. As I'm the mean creature who says (I don't relish the idea of having to breathe into someone's face just to hear them), no nibblies, and it was cramped. I did not feel comfortable. My manager was shocked that I wasn't drinking,Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, as she had assumed that I'm a bit of a partier. I had to adjust her thinking on this and inform that I am quite close to being a teetotler.
Today I have been fielding questions from the Agency asking if I will make an appearance. I'd instead pull out my toenails.
