The Young Directors Project was originated in 2002 by Montblanc and the sometime director for drama of the Salzburg Festival, Jürgen Flimm. Since then, this theatre project has given young, multinational theatre directors and their ensembles a stage during the Salzburg Festival and thus an chance to show their directing talent to a sophisticated audience.
For the 10th continuous year Montblanc is entirely sponsoring the project. In appending to the overall sponsorship, the conquering ensemble receives the Young Directors Award,
