Where Do Maui Locals Go to Eat?
“Where do the Maui locals go to eat?”
It’s a question every Maui vacationer loves to query and it’s an momentous answer. After lounging at the beach,Birkenstock footwear, dinner is often the most memorable portion of your recess.
Over the past 7 years I’ve scrutinized vacationers (tourist is a dirty word to me) and I can’t help but feel sorry for you guys, you have not idea what is nice! There’s nobody better than a savory, well served, well priced dinner. On the flipside there is nothing worse than a sub-par, overpriced, poor serviced meal.
The disastrous truth is that Maui has many more of the latter. “Tourist traps”. Theses places survive for of the lack of wisdom current visitors have. They disburse big bucks to notify, even graft concierge, everything to get you in the door. Then they skimp on quality (both of await staff and meals). I could jot you a long catalogue of labels, but I was taught if you have nothing pleasing to say then don’t say everything at all. So instead lets focus on the great places, places you may have not listened of, but are thronged with locals (the people who actually understand)
It’s important to note that I do no work at any of these establishments; this is truly an unbiased opinion. Make sure you google the directions as a lot of these places are off the beaten path and are a bit hard to find.
Local Grinds $8 - $15 per plate
These are the real gems, great healthy food at great prices staffed at friendly human.
Aloha Mixed Plate
1285 Front Street
Lahaina, HI 96761
(808)661-3322
A bit off the beaten route yet one of the better known on this list. Aloha Mixed Plate serves up regional preferences right afterward to the waterfront at Mala. The atmosphere is very haphazard, there’s lots of seating for the entire family, nike footwear, smart torchlight, dunk sb, Maui sunsets and you don’t need reservations.
Everything on the menu is good but I always get the BBQ merged plate and haupia (a coconut dessert).
The Fish Market
3600 Lower Honoapiilani Rd #H1

What would west Maui do without the fish market? Despite what each place claims, vibram five finger, this is where you will REALLY find the freshest fish. They’ve got all kinds food on the menu and great pupu’s (appetizers) – cerviche, shrimp cocktails, crab cakes, poke and oysters. All fresh. You can even buy some ahi (tuna) steaks or live lobsters to take home and barbecue.
The mart makes great food and you can either eat it outside or in, yet there’s quite restricted seating so what I suggest you do is buy a decanter of wine or champagne, order a cluster of food to work and enjoy a better repast by home than you’d get at anybody restaurant for approximately a fifth the amount.
Kahuna Kabobs
126 Lahainaluna Rd
Lahaina, HI 96761
(808) 661-9999
Kahuna’s is a cool, casual outdoor eatery in the medium of lahania town; you’d probably walk right by it without even knowing it’s there. Here you’ll find great kabobs, salads and coats. Everything is super fresh, luscious and healthy. All the locals that work in Lahaina love to eat here (we’re all sick of the food at our own restaurants).
Locating kabobs tin be a bit sly. It’s situated in the lane just northwardly of the Maui Built store. It’s a great location to eat whether you’re shopping in lahaina and don’t want to spend the money or deal with a canteen (you’ll probably get better edible anyways!)
Fine Dining $35 - $50 per plate
If you’re going to spend huge bucks on supper, you ought anticipate an incredible experience. That’s exactly what these restaurants will convey. These are the blots Maui locals go for birthdays, peppery dates and when family is in town.
Lahaina Grill
127 Lahainaluna Rd
Lahaina, HI 96761
(808) 667-5117
Originally named David Paul’s (Maui locals still call it that), this restaurant is consistently the best. It’s really won “best restaurant on Maui” fourteen years in a row,Anti Aging - Nourish your Skin From the Inside & Roll Back the Years!_795! Why? You'll get great food and great service every unattached time.
The restaurant is just off front avenue (on the left for you hike away from the sea). I definitely recommend you make a booking, for they are always busy.
Mala
1307 Front St. Lahaina
Lahaina, HI 96761
667-9394
Mala is definitely an “under the radar, off the map spot”. Yet when you open the door you’ll be shocked to discern how engaged it is inside. Friendly staff, killer air and great food (half the list is specials namely alteration midnight) reserve everybody coming behind afresh and afresh.
I would definitely recommend a reservation here as well. Though they don’t retention specific tables, acquaint the hostess you’re willing to wait for an outside chart,Asics running shoes, then belly up to the bar fknow next to nothing ofme great special beverages.
Conclusion
There you have it. Five great places to go eat on Maui. But don’t just take my word for it go try them for yourself. I’m sure you’ll realize what a “tourist trap” is behind experiencing these locals favorites.
