Default Windows 7 Home Basic X64 IE8 on Windows7 Ultimate

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate with IE8 64bit.,Windows 7 Home Basic X64
There seem to be two versions of IE8 around the machine. 1 in "Program Files"
and another in "Program Files (x86)". The version that seems to be the
default is from the "(x86)" folder. However although the (presumeably) 64bit
version does the job properly,Windows 7 Home Basic Key Sale, I have noticed that the (x86) version doesn't
appear to close properly and on task manager that although IE seems to have
closed down completely,Buy Office 2010 Standard,Office 2010 Professional Plus Sale P.C. Never Died - Reason Magazine, Task manager implies that there are still a number
of IE tasks extant (*32 version). Seems to occur when trying to access a
link from one page to another for (perhaps) a file transfer which seems to
fail in some way. I can find no extra information as to what has happened,Office 2010 X86 Sale,
and conversely should I make the 64bit version the default in some way?
