In 1978, he starred as the scarecrow in the musical, The Wiz, and it was here that he teamed up with Quincy Jones, who was arranging the film's musical score. Jones agreed to produce Jackson's next solo album, Off the Wall. In 1979, Jackson broke his nose during a complex dance routine. His subsequent rhinoplasty was not a complete success; he complained of breathing difficulties that would affect his career. That year, he also won Billboard Music Awards for Top Black Artist and Top Black Album and a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, also for "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough". Despite its commercial success, Jackson felt Off the Wall should have made a much bigger impact, and was determined to exceed expectations with his next release. Companies are always looking for different ways to promote their businesses. They want to ensure that customers see their business, but they do not want to spend too much money. You can spend a lot of money, but will you get a good return on your investment? You can get a small newspaper ad but is it worth it given how few people will see the ad?What is a business to do?
The answer comes in shot glasses. Shot glasses are not thought of as something that can be a used as a promotional tool but it is all in how you look at it. You want to ensure that you can make sure your customers see your logo and your company name. If you throw it in a television ad, your company will only be seen for a few seconds. If you put it on a billboard, a lot of people see it but most are concentrating on their driving. If you put it in a newspaper, it stays around for a few days but most will not read it. However, with shot glasses, you can ensure that your product is seen for years, over and over, by your customer and their friends and family.
All you have to do is put your company name and logo on the shot glass and then give those shot glasses to your customers. This does two things:
First, it rewards your customers and that makes them feel appreciated. If your customers feel appreciated, they will shop with you more. Again, you want to get loyal customers because loyal customers buy more than other customers and a loyal customer can be made through gifts like promotional shot glasses.
The second thing that this does is that it puts your company name and logo into the person's home and over the years they will see your company name and logo over and over, dozens or hundreds of times. This creates brand awareness for your customers because they see the brand so many times. When you have brand awareness, you have a customer who will shop with you several times. In fact, it is possible to get hundreds of dollars back for every dollar you spend on promotional shot glasses. That return on investment is amazing and not something you should ignore.
Always look at promotional shot glasses and other promotional products as a way to get customers shopping with you more and to create more awareness of your brand.
The Jackson 5 signed a new contract with CBS Records in June 1975, joining the Philadelphia International Records division, later Epic Records, and renaming themselves The Jacksons. They continued to tour internationally, releasing six more albums between 1976 and 1984, during which Jackson was the lead songwriter, writing hits such as "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)", "This Place Hotel," and "Can You Feel It".
