New wave
After the soaring marbled lobby and palatial public spaces, Room 818, a “twin executive” that my daughter and I shared, was fine but rather ordinary. It was sizable enough but not spacious, with two queen-size beds nicely made up in the fine sheets and comforters you would expect in any upscale hotel. Accents of satin and brocade were in evidence here and there. Of the 380 rooms in the hotel, there are plenty that are bigger, lusher and more expensive.
