Converse All Stars are a staple in children's shoes. For decades, kids have worn the ever-popular canvas sneakers in a variety of colors and styles, from low- to hi-tops. Looking for a great gift idea or fun activity for a kid? Converse offers an online customization feature that allows anyone to design their own pair of All Stars. Choose colors, patterns, styles, and even personalize the sneaks with a child's name.Difficulty:EasyInstructions 1On the Converse website (see Resources), click on the "Design Your Own" option. Click the link that says "Start Your Design".2Roll your mouse over the "Kids' Designs" option to access a drop-down list of All Star styles. Consult with your child to see which one or she prefers, and click on the desired style.3Use the sizing chart to determine your child's Converse shoe size. Kids' All Stars are uni######, so you'll need to make sure the sizing translates correctly. Select the appropriate size from the drop-down menu. If you're concerned about choosing the correct size, have your child try on the same style of All Stars at a shoe store first.4Choose the colors and patterns for each part of the shoes with the "Design" tool. This step may take some time as there are numerous choices and possible color combinations. Take a closer look at your design using the magnification and "View Angle" tools.5Add your child's name or initials to his All Stars with the "ID Shoes" function. Choose the font and location for the name, either on the side of the shoe, or the heel.6Complete your design and purchase the shoes. The site also allows you to save your progress and return later if you need more time to work on it. You can also print your design, and email it to others.
