Default Claggett and Sheffield, Linked Again

Claggett, 24, has appeared in five games for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, allowing two earned runs in five and a third innings. He is a sinkerballer who does not throw especially hard but impressed Girardi in spring training by attacking the strike zone.

Real impressed with Clagett. Every time you see an embarrassment like the second inning today, say to yourself, ‘Someone paid $2500 to see that.”

Two things are needed to convince me that Joba should stay in the rotation:

On November 10, 2006,Anyone can wear Chanel sunglasses and reap their benefits, wholesale Toronto Blue Jays Hats, Anthony Claggett joined the Yankees as one of three pitching prospects acquired from Detroit for Sheffield. Ever since,2009 World Baseball Classic sale, he has felt linked to Sheffield and followed his career.

Claggett is here because the Yankees wanted an extra arm in the bullpen after short starts this week. Also, Manager Joe Girardi said he would rather not have to use Jonathan Albaladejo as a long man anymore.

So it was amusing to Claggett that,Wholesale Jordan Hats, just after learning of his promotion to the Yankees Friday night, he found out that Sheffield had enjoyed a special moment, too. As the Yankees were summoning Claggett to the Bronx, Sheffield was smoking his 500th homer in Flushing.
“It’s kind of weird,Transformers Hats,” Claggett said. “He hits a milestone and I become a rookie.”
Keep an eye on Melancon if the Yankees continue to get inconsistent relief pitching. If Melancon can carry that pitching over to the majors, he could team with Brian Bruney in the late innings and maybe – finally – convince people that the Yankees don’t need Joba Chamberlain pitching in relief.

So Claggett is here, and Juan Miranda is out, even though it leaves the Yankees with a three-man bench that includes Hideki Matsui, whose creaky knees have kept him from starting in four of the last five games.
1. An obvious heir-apparent to Rivera is identified.

“A lot of it depends on how our rotation does, cheap Washington Nationals Hats, and if the rotation is giving us a lot of innings every day,” Girardi said. “We need that extra position player, wholesale Chicago Cubs Hats, but for right now, we got five and two-thirds out of C.C,Cheap Boston Red Sox Hats, and four and two-thirds out of Joba. Your bullpen gets a little depleted.”
Scranton, incidentally,HOT Styles, is 9-0 this season, with a .323 team batting average and a 3.07 team E.R.A. Players of note include starter Phil Hughes (2-0, 2.31), reliever Mark Melancon (7 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs,Wholesale San Diego Padres Hats, 2 walks, 14 strikeouts), and outfielder Austin Jackson, who is hitting .480.
(And why is Joba topping out at 93 MPH? Other starters — Burnett, Beckett, Randy Johnson, Colon — all hit 97-98 consistently.)

2. Joba dominates in the rotation as he did in relief. His presence out of the pen in 2007 changed the dynamic of Yankee games and added a lot of swagger to the team. To date, we haven’t seen that from Joba as a starter.
