It’s a little hard to know what to make of Holly Wilson’s tiny and attenuated, exquisite and existential figures — but fun to try — in her “Weight of Water” show at JRB Art at The Elms. A skinny bronze girl in a rust-red dress seems to be trying to reach a small ball gowns, silver bird in “Almost There,” for example.

In another wall piece grad dresses 2011, the girl, wearing the same red dress, precariously pursues the tiny silver bird “On a Limb Designer Prom Dresses,” while in “Shhh long prom dresses,” she holds the bird behind her back cheap long prom dresses, raising a finger to her lips for quiet.
A slender figure appears to be trying to keep its balance backward on the wall in “All In,” and a second solitary figure seems at “Risk” of falling off the wall to which it is attached.
A 1992 Kansas City Art Institute graduate who received her masters at Stephen F. Austin State University in 2001, Wilson said her work draws “on the reality and legends” of her Delaware-Cherokee background.
Also at JRB are acrylic paintings by Venezuelan-born artist Thomas Batista.
Lush red and turquoise flowers with ethereal ball gown dresses, drip-like stalks cast their reflections on a golden body of still water in “Sunkissed Season II cheap Cocktail dresses,” a large canvas which is one of Batista’s better efforts. Equally appealing is a square canvas in which the blue-green silhouettes of “Children Playing in the Rain” emerge from an interplay of multicolored floral and decorative motifs.
