Draping Done Right at Costello Tagliapietra – Fas

Fall 2010 New York, Fashion Week, News Draping Done Right at Costello Tagliapietra By Lauren Sherman Saturday, Feb 13, 2010 / 6:00 PM GMT -5 The last time I went to a Costello show, I wasn’t blown away. In fact, I was pretty disappointed. These guys–who live in my neighborhood and are known for working the lumberjack look long before it was popular among Brooklyn’s finest hipsters–are also known for draping a dress like no one else. But instead of noticing how gorgeous the pieces were, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the models’ messy hair, stern faces and the show‘s overall clutter. A year later, the duo redeemed themselves with expertly draped, autumn-toned jersey dresses that belong in a modern re-telling of a Daphne du Maurier novel. The red lips and soft hair buns were polished but not prim, baseball hats, and the perfectly neutral, not-too-high shoes from Loeffler Randall made it easy for the models to walk with confidence. One detail I particularly loved: The braided hemline on a few of the simpler dresses. |
