This morning’s Academy Award nominations were not without controversy (Mila? Julianne? Hello?). And in an industry filled with surprisingly thin-skinned people, an Oscar snub is tough.
But another slate of award contenders, released Sunday, brings sighs of relief from those missing from its list. The Razzie Awards honor the worst of the worst, including many stars that,Windows 7 Ultimate Product Key, this time last year, thought they might be up for Oscar gold for their work in 2010.
Let’s pause for a moment of silence for the rich and famous.
Two films tied for the highest number of Golden Raspberry Award nominations with nine each.
The Last Airbender scored noms for worst picture, worst director (M. Night Shyamalan), worst remake, worst screenplay, worst ensemble, worst supporting actor (both Dev Patel and Jackson Rathbone), worst supporting actress (Nicola Peltz, who played possible lesbian Katara) and worst “eye-gouging misuse of 3-D."
Neck and neck for most dishonored movie is Twilight: Eclipse,Office 2010 Activation, up for worst picture, worst ensemble, worst director (David Slade), worst screenplay, worst sequel and three worst acting awards (Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattison and Taylor Lautner).
Should I admit that I think Eclipse was kind of entertaining? Nah.
Jessica Alba’s worst supporting actress nomination could be a sort of Lifetime Low Achievement Award, given the fact that it includes her roles in The Killer Inside Me, Little Fockers, Machete and Valentine’s Day. Only all of those moves were in 2010 and Alba seems to pop up on the Razzie list every year.
Oh, Jessica, how different your life would be if only you had run away with Original Cindy.
The movie that was my own biggest disappointment in 2010, ###### & The City 2, earned a worst picture nomination along with worst ensemble,Windows 7 Activation Key, worst director, worst screenplay, worst sequel and a collective worst actress nod for its leading ladies.
That is a movie that might have been better in eye-gouging 3-D, depending on what exactly did the gouging.
One of my favorite Razzie nominations is in the worst screen couple category: “Josh Brolin’s face and Megan Fox’s accent" in Jonah Hex. Again I say, Megan, just don’t speak.
The past couple of years,Office Pro Plus, the Razzie Awards have become a place for nominees to prove their coolness. Last year,Office Professional, Sandra Bullock accepted the worst actress Razzie the night before she accepted the best actress Oscar. Halle Berry showed similar good humor the year before. Just one more reason to love these women.
