2011 50-Yard Lion Penn State football predictions: Rob Bolden will ...

Last Sunday, The Patriot-News staff made their Penn State football predictions for the 2011 season. Now it's time for the 50-Yard Lion Newport cigarettes online blog writers to look into their crystal ball and tell you what they see in the Nittany Lions' future. First up is Bill Engel: Game-by-Game Predictions ISU - W Bama - L EMU - W @Temple - W @Indiana - W Iowa - W Purdue - W @Northwestern - L Illinois - W Nebraska - W @Ohio St - L @Wisconsin - L How It Will Play Out Last year I was certain that Penn State had an eight win team but the injuries lowered that to seven. As for this year, I really have no idea. The schedule is brutal. If we played Wisconsin and Ohio State early in the season, I would like our chances but late in the season, Russell Wilson will have a firm grasp on the Wisky O and Ohio State will be rolling. I think we lose both of these games and a closer than expected game to Alabama. I also think we will lose one game we are supposed to win and the Northwestern game has trap game all over it. Dan Persa carved up the PSU D last year before he was injured. This year he returns along with most of their team and are at home. Northwestern along with Michigan could surprise in the Legend's cheap cigarettes online outlet Division. Penn State returns a lot of players with experience and this is normally when Joe Paterno's teams have great seasons. But for me there are too many question marks. If Penn State had a senior QB and an All-American rush defensive end, I would predict we win the B1G. The only way I see the defensive ends making an impact is if the tackles demand double teams. But that remains to be seen. The offensive line should be fine but they probably won't push teams around. With those question marks, I can see us in the running for the B1G but ultimately, it won't be quite enough. But we will be able to take solace in the fact that Penn State beat the eventual B1G Champ in their last home game of the 2011 season. B1G Division Winners Leaders - Wisconsin uses a favorable schedule to lock up the division the last week with a win at home against PSU Legends - Nebraska visits Madison, Ann Arbor, Iowa and State College while also playing Ohio State at home. If they survive that, they deserve the title. I really don't see them coming in and dominating like some others do but I think cheap American Gold lights they can win a relatively weaker Legend's division. B1G Winner - Nebraska avenges their earlier loss and wins their inaugural season in the B1G. What Will Happen at QB Position? I struggle with how people are lining up so vociferously behind individuals rather than lining up behind the team. I really don't care who starts as long as the team performs well. I love Bolden's upside but if McGloin can take the next step and learn to check down and not force things, he can win us some games. If I had to guess, I would say Bolden starts but since I believe Joe favors McGloin, he will be on a very short leash. Bolden will continue to start the majority of games throughout the season but McGloin will be our version of a relief pitcher who comes in when we need a spark. Bold Prediction Penn State ends up with six players who are 1st or 2nd Team All B1G first (Moye, Mauti, Okoli, Still, Lynn, and Sukay).
