By: Anne Cheng Our internships are called wonderful locations to obtain “real” work. Whether you are coding/testing/designing, the opportunity to make an impact is there. But what do our interns do after they log off? I’m going to share with you a couple of fantastic intern events that have been organized by our Intern Program Manager and Coordinator this summer that allows our interns to explore the different groups and network across our company. Intern Product Fair/Steve Ballmer event: Last week, I helped out at an Intern event which ended up being the highlight of my week. Over 100 different groups across Microsoft were represented, both technical and non-technical. All the big players were there – Xbox, Vista, Office, Mobile Devices, Zune, but the best parts were the demos in which the interns (and this recruiter) were able to play with cutting edge technology such as Surface. When the MS stocks blow up, I’ll be lining up for one of these for my home. In addition,Office 2010 Professional Plus 32 Bit (http://www.office-2010-key.co.uk/), Steve Ballmer was present to answer questions from interns and talk a bit about what he sees as the future for Microsoft. Tech Talks – Every week, the intern program brings in various speakers who discuss their teams, their perform, etc- another fantastic way for interns to obtain more insights into the innovation occurring across the company. One recent notable talk was from J Allard – the VP heading up Zune development, Microsoft’s Digital Music Player. He spoke about the player and walked us through the various cool features. At the end of the presentation, MS surprised the interns by giving them each all their very own Zune. I have to say, I was a little jealous of all the interns beaming the programmed music to and from their friends’ devices. There were some recruiters on hand also sharing music wirelessly from their devices, as well. Not wanting to miss the party, I’m happy to report that my very own RED Zune is coming soon. I never thought I would be shelving my green mini iPod – so well done, J Allard,Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2010 Product Key (http://www.msoffice2010key.net/), on a awesome presentation. We also brought together over 80 of our female interns and some of the fantastic women employees at Microsoft to enjoy dinner and get to know each other. The General Manager of HR, Lisa Brummel, was the keynote speaker and discussed her career, experiences at Microsoft, and gave advice and answered the interns' questions. Other events planned for the Interns include: Xbox Tournaments, PuzzleDay, and Mariners baseball games. Interns also have school & regional events and their own team morale events, where they have done activities such as: sailing,Office Standard 2010 Serial (http://www.msoffice2010key.net/), kayaking,Office Professional Plus 2010 64bit (http://www.office2010key.ca/), roller skating, catching a 12:01am opening night movie, etc. Finally, there is a budget for interns to use to plan their own trips,Office 2010 Home And Student Keygen (http://www.key-office-2010.de/), such as white water rafting or trips to Mt. Rainer. There was even a fun article that was recently posted about our internship program. Hope this gave you a little sense of life as a Microsoft Intern off-hours.
